Thirteenth entry corresponding to the series of posts in which we are collecting different terms in a glossary of footwear concepts (13). Within our scope, there are numerous terms that refer to important elements in the manufacturing and design of shoes. We continue with others concepts from the world of footwear arranged in alphabetical order.
Assembled
Technique that joins the cut to the assembly insole, centering the cuts attached to the last. It can be glued, sewn, nailed or a combination of several. The floor is then placed.
Heel notch
It is located at the top back of the shoe well, above the heel. Also known as cleft.

Reference samples
Set of samples that serve to establish similarities and differences between others of the same species or category.
Multimold
With various molds. Referring to injecting and vulcanizing machines.
butthole
The hole through which the laces pass and the shoes are tied.
Shovel
It is the part of the shoe that is above the toes; In the foot, this part is called the instep. It is often made of breathable mesh fabric, or has perforations for better breathability.
Palmilla
Element that serves to support the roughed cut in the assembled one. It is also known as a plant.
Wall or side
The wall is the main piece on the side of the shoe.
Pattern maker or model maker
It is the technician who transforms the drawing made in 2D into a 3D pattern that adapts to a specific last. The designer draws the shoe, the pattern maker makes it into a real shoe.
Penetrators
They are products that modify the surface tension of finishing preparations and consequently their greater or lesser absorption by the skin.
Perimeter
It is the distance around an object. When measuring a last, you need to know the perimeter of the ball joint (toe instep), the perimeter of the instep or waist (low instep), and the perimeter of the heel (high instep).
